This morning, your private tour guide will retrieve you from your pre-tour lodging in Windhoek.We go southwest from Windhoek to the quaint village of Solitaire, where we pause for lunch at our own expense. This small hamlet on the outskirts of the Namib Desert is situated near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Following lunch in Solitaire, we proceed to the guesthouse where we will reside for the subsequent two nights. The guest farm adjoins the Namib-Naukluft Park and hosts a diverse array of wildlife and desert-adapted flora. This afternoon, you are at liberty to investigate the farm and observe the indigenous animals, including gemsbok, wildebeest, and giraffe. Namib-Naukluft, one of Africa’s largest national parks, comprises extensive areas of the ancient Namib Desert. Upon entering the park, we proceed to the renowned Sossusvlei dunes and then to the Sossusvlei saltpan. We traverse the desert to investigate the Sossusvlei and Deadvlei pans. These bleached basins are interspersed with arboreal remains and encircled by towering, orange sand dunes, forming some of the most remarkable desert vistas on Earth.
Following our exploration of the majestic dunes of the Namib Desert, reputed to be the oldest desert globally, we proceed to Sesriem Canyon. A Toyota Hilux is utilized for short trips accommodating 2 passengers, while a Toyota Landcruiser with a pop-up cover is employed for parties of 4-6 guests. The Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles, accommodating 4-6 persons, have been specifically engineered and tailored for the rugged terrain of Namibia.
