4 Day Chimpanzees and Crater Lakes Safari: Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1: Arrival at the Airport and Transfer to Kibale National Park

Upon your arrival at the international airport, you will be welcomed by our guide from Adventure in the wild safaris and you will immediately embark on your journey to kibale national park in the western part of Uganda where you will have a stopover at the equator to take photos and have fun together with your breakfast. You will continue with your journey and have your enroute lunch in Kasese, soon you will be arriving. This will take you over 8 hours to arrive at the park. You will be welcomed at the park entrance and directed to the lodge where to get dinner and have an overnight since it will be too late.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up very early in the morning, take a cup of coffee and then your driver will pick you and take you to the park headquarters with packed lunch for a briefing by the trained rangers. You will then get to the park and start the trekking. Once you come across the chimpanzees, you will be given ample time to stay with them and have fun. You will get lunch and immediately transfer to queen Elizabeth national park where you will be welcomed and directed to the lodge to have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit Some of the Crater Lakes( Lake Katwe )

Wake up very early in the morning, have your cup of tea and then be picked up by your guide who will drive you to visit the crater lake.

Lake Katwe is situated at the highest point of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Mweya Peninsula. It is the biggest Crater Lake and the main supplier of salt in Uganda. It is too salty for any aquatic animal to survive there and is 3,265 feet deep. Elephants, buffaloes, and flamingos can all be seen near the baboon cliff. On the way to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you can make a stop at Lake Katwe. Enjoy the vast view of the Rift Valley, Lake George, Lake Edward, the Kazinga channel, and the Rwenzori Mountains.

The Katwe explosion craters will improve your hiking experience. You will pass through tea plantations, settlements, and other crater lakes on your journey to the top of the earth. Lake Kitagata, which is fed by salty hot spring water and provides a clear view of the Kyemango crater, is a sight you won’t soon forget. You will return to the park after that for dinner and an overnight stay at the Mweya safari lodge.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Depart for Kampala

Immediately after your morning tea, your guide will pick you and transfer you to the park to have your morning game drive where by you will get a chance to see the animals that you did not see before. You will then embark on your journey to Kampala preparing to have your flight back to your destination. You will finally reach your final destination and you will get to the airport to wait for your flight back to your home. Set off in a once rugged rainforest

Getting There

The trip will start from Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Katwe and you will be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe international airport after the trip.
