Best time of the year for gorilla trekking in Uganda
When is the best time of the year for gorilla trekking in Uganda?
Gorilla trekking is one of the most popular and best activities in national parks in Uganda. This is because of the high population concentration of mountain gorillas which Has attracted a lot of travellers/tourists in Uganda. Uganda is one of the leading countries in east Africa carrying out gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking in Uganda can be carried out throughout the year but may clients/visitors prefer during the dry seasons of the year that’s from June, July, August, September and it’s also possible during January and February these are dry seasons with no rainfall yet un predictable since Bwindi is a rain forest area. rainfall can be received at any time. This is also known as the peak seasons by this time many visitors visit Uganda for gorilla trekking experience.
Gorilla trekking takes place in Bwindi impenetrable forest national and Mgahinga Gorilla park both are found in Uganda, Bwindi national park being the main tourist destination, the park is a home for over 900 mountain gorillas. you can find the rest of the mountain gorillas in the Virunga in the D.R Congo and the volcanoes national in Rwanda, Bwindi national parks is covered by montane rain forest this facilitate rain fall formation, this implies that rainfall can be received at any time of the day but also expect a bit of sunshine during early hours of the day and rainfall during the night but yet the weather in Bwindi is unpredictable.
For some clients, I would recommend the rainy seasons as the best time of the year for gorilla tracking activities.by this time. There are fewer number of people/ tourists who come for gorilla tracking, there is also less congestion at the park you are able to move freely at the park without meeting crowed sans the mountain gorillas also like a bit of rain this can lead to you locating the gorilla without trekking long distance in search for the gorillas. This happens in the month of April, may to November to mid-December. During these time, there is a less number of tourists who visit the park, this means that there is availability of permits at Uganda wildlife authority (UWA) for gorilla tracking, with the help of adventure in the wild safari, we can reserve the permits for you early before the tracking date. For upmarket and luxury lodges, the prices are discounted for any person to acquire.
