Day 1: Maun to Khwai Guest House – Khwai & Moremi Region, Botswana
The Okavango Delta Botswana Safari commences in Maun, the central point for exploring the Okavango Delta. Departing from the vibrant town of Maun, we proceed to Khwai hamlet, approximately a three and a half hour journey distant.
Upon arrival at the secluded Khwai village, we proceed to Khwai Guest House, our cozy accommodation for the subsequent three nights. Khwai hamlet is a little rural community situated on the periphery of the renowned Moremi Game Reserve, the sole official reserve in the Okavango Delta.
This economical Botswana Safari offers real cultural experiences in a native hamlet and exploration of the Okavango Delta, one of Africa’s premier wildlife locations. We dedicated two days to explore this untamed region of Botswana, visiting a traditional hamlet, the community-managed Khwai Wildlife Concession, and the esteemed Moremi Game Reserve, encompassing the eastern section of the unspoiled delta habitat.

Days 2 and 3: Khwai Guest House – Khwai Concession and Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana
On the second and third days of our Okavango Delta Botswana Safari, we awaken at dawn. We commence our days with an early breakfast prior to embarking on our morning excursion. We return to the Khwai Guest House for lunch around noon, subsequently enjoying leisure time to rest and unwind. At approximately 15:30 or 16:00 (season-dependent), we commence our afternoon activity, returning in time for a delectable dinner made over the campfire.
Activities encompass three-hour game drives in the Khwai Concession and Moremi Game Reserve, full-day game drives in either the Khwai Concession or Moremi Game Reserve (contingent upon availability upon arrival), and nocturnal drives. Mokoro trips run approximately two and a half hours, while cultural tours take around two hours. The Khwai Guest House additionally provides exhilarating game walks during the season.
The Khwai Guest House is situated on expansive grounds in Khwai village, providing an optimal location for exploring the old community of Khwai. One can traverse the rural community and engage with the inhabitants, acquiring an understanding of their distinctive lifestyle. Wildlife observation occurs in Moremi Game Reserve, one of Southern Africa’s premier wildlife reserves, and the exceptional Khwai Concession Area of Botswana. The Khwai Guest House adjoins two wilderness regions, which host a remarkable variety of fauna, flora, and avifauna. The area is home to numerous huge creatures, including elephants, buffalo, and predators such as lions, wild dogs, and leopards. Wild animals traverse freely between Moremi and Khwai, a lesser-known wildlife treasure. By examining the diverse environments, from native woods to expansive floodplains, we are certain to observe various fauna, other organisms, and avian species.
We spend our days engaging in game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles and participating in mokoro excursions in the delta waterways with native guides. Mekoros are traditional boats utilized for navigation in the aquatic Okavango Delta in Botswana. Drifting along the serene streams and lagoons of the unspoiled African wilderness, you may relax and observe the natural surroundings, scanning for animals and avian species while your guide propels the mokoro from the rear.
Provided conditions permit, we embark on nature walks with knowledgeable local guides. Traversing the African bush is an excellent method to intimately experience the natural environment and observe its fauna and flora closely. Venturing into the wilderness on foot is an exhilarating experience, since we may encounter enormous wildlife at any moment!
Day 4: Okavango Delta and Khwai Guest House to Maun, Botswana
Today, we bid farewell to Khwai Guest House and the indelible Okavango Delta. Following breakfast, we embark on a three-and-a-half-hour drive back to Maun, marking the conclusion of this extraordinary Okavango Delta Botswana Safari.
Upon conclusion of the Botswana Safari, you will be transported to Maun Airport for your subsequent departure.
