Flora and Fauna in the ranges of Mountain Rwenzori | Mountain Rwenzori is a habitant to Uganda’s variety of flora and fauna. This is the highest and the most permanent source of the river Nile and constitute of a vital water catchment area. The nice looking wildlife, the vegetation zones, the ice snow, the beautiful landscape and the magnificent water falls are the most attractive and beautiful things that have led to an increased number of clients.

In the Rwenzori Mountain ranges, there are flora and the fauna that look so attractive to most of the clients in the world. However, flora have got a biggest advantage to the mountain which have attracted a number of tourists  that  have brought in a lot of income.

The mountain is covered and surrounded by water bodies such as rivers, lakes that are filled with water which give a beautiful glittering view of mirrors that attract a number of clients.

The mountain has got very heathered, dramatic and nice-looking plants that have been maintained by an average temperature of 4000m which usually does not go above 150C.

The mountain has got very many attractions such as the lobelia, the heathered valleys, lichens  that are so attractive to the clients.

A single trek in   mountain Rwenzori ranges will lead you to several altitudinal vegetation zones where you will get to have a glance on the beautiful climate, the wild life and plants.

The mountain has got different vegetation zones which include the Afro montane forest with a distance of 1800m to 2500m. The zone has got a number of trees which form a canopy shape with a limited number of thickets that attract a number of tourists.

The mountain has got another zone with a distance of 2500m to 3000m allowing the growth of the bamboo trees. These trees have led to an increased shedding of leaves on the ground hence making the flowers to grow after a long period of time such as 30 years.

Just from  a distance of 4,000m and above,   you  will enter the most dramatic, beautiful and  heather zone. The usnea beard lichen, Sphagnum moss smell and the whole place is covered by   coral pink orchids. The water-logged area valleys and the land scape are all covered by the large tussocks.

The mountain has got the alpine zone covering a distance of over 4000m which allows the  growth  of giant groundsel, Senecio adnivalis, lobelia wollastonii and  lastly the torch lobelia.

The vegetation will immediately start to shrink with time and after a distance of 4300m until nothing is seen completely apart from the moss and maybe the liches.

Alternatively, there are plants that are members of the botanical communities   above 3800m. On a rare case, these plants are only seen.

Fauna in the Mountain Rwenzori.

The Rwenzori mountain ranges are  a habitant to a number of beautiful mammals and bird species. The mammals are over 70 species with the bird species which are over 177 birds. The mammals include; African elephants, chimpanzees, leopard’s ad so on. The bird species include; fly catchers, the Rwenzori otters to mention but a few. However, despite the fact that all these are found in the Rwenzori ranges, they are rarely seen.

Mountain Rwenzori has got a number of primates and among those include; the white colobus monkeys, blue colobus monkeys and the blue monkeys that are easily viewed by most clients while in the safari on a far distance. Alternatively, the park has also got other wild life such as the antelopes. Among these  include the impalas, bushbucks, elands and so on.

Among all  the bird species  that are found in the Rwenzori mountain, the Albertine rift endemics  has got the biggest number of bird species  that are so  significant to the mountain and  therefore this has led to an increased number of clients who come in for  bird watching  hence increasing on the Uganda’s  income.

Mountain Rwenzori has got the largest number of bird species located in the montane forest. Among these birds we have; the Rwenzori Turaco, Barred Long-tailed Cuckoo, Long-eared Owl, Handsome Francolin, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, Archers’ Robin-chat, White-starred Robin, Rwenzori Batis, Montane Sooty Boubou, Lagden’s Bush Shrike, Slender-billed Starling, Blue-headed Sunbird, Golden-winged Sunbird, Strange Weaver and so many others. However, there are other bird species such as the  Barbets, Greenbuls, Apalises, IIladopsis and  Flycatchers.

Alternatively, the mountain has got most super star birds which feed on fresh. These birds include the  high hunt the lammergeiers and black eagles
