Deloraine House - Overview
Overview of Deloraine House Kenya, Lake Nakuru
A family-owned and -run lodge, Deloraine House is nestled in a rugged Rift Valley landscape, just under an hour’s drive from Lake Nakuru, one of Kenya’s renowned soda lakes, where you might encounter hundreds of thousands of flamingos at times.
Constructed in the 1920s on the slopes of a dormant volcano, the lodge boasts an intriguing history and is renowned as a premier equestrian center. For passionate and seasoned riders, Deloraine presents multi-day horseback safaris across diverse parks and reserves in Kenya, along with local day rides suitable for both experts and novices, allowing you to soak in breathtaking vistas of the Rift Valley. A Deloraine highlight is a thrilling ride through a protected forest where you will be on the lookout for the rare black-and-white colobus monkey.
Deloraine is a cozy lodge featuring just five en suite bedrooms in the main house and an additional three in the adjoining cottage, making it a perfect retreat for honeymooners, couples, and families alike. It boasts a swimming pool, tennis court, polo field, and croquet lawn, along with two family rooms featuring shared bathrooms. It is an ideal spot to kick off your shoes and unwind indoors for a day or two before embarking on an exciting journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. When the flamingos are around, the scenery is breathtaking. Buffalo, hippos, and giraffes roam the land, while elusive leopards and rhinos add an air of mystery. With an astonishing bird count of around 400 species, there is certainly no shortage of wildlife to marvel at, even without the flamingos!
