Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River – Zambia

The Victoria Falls Tour Package commences with a pick-up from the international airport in Livingstone, Zambia. You will be transported from the airport to the Protea Hotel, located on the periphery of Livingstone, in proximity to the Victoria Falls.

Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River
In the afternoon, we proceed to the Royal Landing, where we are welcomed by a Marimba Band, before embarking on a picturesque sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The boat departs at approximately 15:30 and lasts about two hours, navigating downstream towards Victoria Falls, reaching Siloka Island, and returning within the perimeter of Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.

The leisurely Zambezi River cruise is the perfect conclusion to your initial day at Victoria Falls, offering a magnificent African sunset over the serene river and surrounding vegetation. The leisurely boat tour features refreshments and delectable food to enhance the experience. Hippos and crocodiles are frequently observed from the boat, with an array of other wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and even rhinoceroses. A remarkable variety of birds can also be observed on this leisurely nature trip.

Following our tranquil sunset sail, we return to the hotel for a night of repose.

Day 2: Chobe National Park, Botswana

On the second day of our Victoria Falls Tour Package, we departed early for a comprehensive safari in Chobe National Park, renowned as one of the premier game reserves in Botswana.

We go to the Zimbabwe border post (ensure you have your passport) and, upon crossing, we advance to the Botswana entrance gate, pausing en route to step on a sterilized mat to avert the introduction of Foot and Mouth illness into the country. Upon arriving in Botswana, we will transfer to an open safari vehicle for the journey to Chobe National Park and for wildlife observation within the park. We are proceeding to the northern region of the park, where the Chobe River delineates the northern boundary.

Our expedition commences with a river boat into the park, offering a chance to observe the numerous waders and fauna that inhabit the riverbanks, as this serves as a significant watering location, especially during the dry season. This region is recognized for its lush forests, which have drawn herds of elephants, leading to a substantial population estimated at over 50,000 individuals.

We enjoy a pleasant lunch break at the newly refurbished Chobe Game Lodge, where a buffet is prepared for us. A complementary beverage and tea or coffee are provided with lunch.

Rejuvenated, we embarked on our afternoon wildlife drive. In addition to the numerous elephants we anticipate observing, we can expect to encounter up to 15 distinct animal species, including buffalo, giraffe, kudu, roan, sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys, and baboons, as well as the associated predators (lion, leopard, hyena, and jackal). Ensure your cameras are prepared and bring binoculars if available. It is recommended to bring sunscreen and a hat for this three-hour game drive in the intense midday sun.

Following our exhilarating Chobe Safari in Botswana, we will return to Victoria Falls in Zambia, crossing the border and arriving at our hotel by approximately 18:00.

Day 3: Upper Zambezi Canoeing Expedition – Zambia

Prepare for an exhilarating day at Victoria Falls in Zambia! Day three of our Victoria Falls Tour Package encompasses kayaking on the Zambezi River, a visit to Victoria Falls, and an immersion in local culture.

This morning, we embarked on our half-day canoeing expedition on the Upper Zambezi River, upstream of the magnificent Victoria Falls. Canoeing is the optimal method to traverse the picturesque Upper Zambezi River region. Following a safety briefing by the expert river guide and a brief practice session on the water, the paddling commences. This paddle presents no significant challenges, with just minor, manageable rapids, and does not necessitate prior canoeing experience. We leisurely navigate the Upper Zambezi, observing hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, elephants, kudus, impalas, and other wild fauna along the shores.

Canoeing on the river is an excellent method for observing avian species, particularly the formidable Martial Eagle, among the more than 50 bird species frequently encountered. While canoeing along the river, we traverse national parks on the Zimbabwean shore and untouched wilderness on the Zambian side. This tranquil kayak focuses on appreciating the stunning landscape and observing the local wildlife and vegetation intimately. Subsequently, there is an opportunity for a picnic lunch along the riverbank.

Victoria Falls Guided Excursion
This afternoon, the expedition proceeds with a guided tour to Victoria Falls, conducted by a seasoned and informed local guide. We traverse verdant rainforests on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, exploring vantage places for breathtaking views of this natural marvel. The trek traverses Knife Edge Bridge and the woodland, which features plant species seldom encountered in other regions of Zambia or Zimbabwe. During the peak season, we can even perceive the mist of the “Smoke that Thunders,” as Victoria Falls is referred to.

Victoria Falls, recognized as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, presents a breathtaking spectacle, particularly when the Zambezi River’s water levels are elevated. Regarded as the largest waterfall globally, the falls descend 100 meters into the gorge below and extend 1.5 kilometers in width. Approximately 550 million gallons of water cascade over Victoria Falls per minute.

The knowledgeable guide elucidates the geology of Victoria Falls and provides further insights on this magnificent cascade during your stroll.

Tour of Cultural Village
An informed guide leads us on a hamlet tour, offering insight into the lives of indigenous Zambians and their vibrant traditions. We visit Mukuni Village to observe the lifestyle of the Leya people and to learn about their distinctive history and traditions.

Mukuni village, established in the 13th century, was the largest settlement on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls prior to the founding of Livingstone. The settlement, previously referred to as Gundu, was renamed in the 18th century following its conquest by Chief Mukuni from the Congo. Currently, this African village accommodates over 7,000 residents and features a clinic, a school, two churches, stores, boreholes, and bars. Observe how residents construct and adorn their dwellings, participate in subsistence agriculture, and produce African artifacts. An intriguing insight into the amalgamation of contemporary and traditional lifestyles in Zambia.

Day 4: Aerial View of Angels over Victoria Falls – Zambia

On the last day of our Victoria Falls Tour Package, you will ascend into the sky for remarkable aerial vistas of the magnificent falls.

Helicopter Flight of Angels
Today, we embark on our exhilarating helicopter flight. This Flight of Angels offers a picturesque helicopter tour above the majestic Victoria Falls, delivering exceptional vistas and a novel perspective on this natural marvel.

The 15-minute helicopter excursion offers an unobstructed aerial perspective of the stunning Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and the adjacent wilderness. We ascend over Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, observing wildlife beneath, then descend over the remarkable Batoka Gorge. This picturesque Flight of Angels is performed in a helicopter engineered to provide each passenger with exceptional vistas.

The helicopter trip above Victoria Falls is aptly named the trip of Angels, as it offers a clear view from above the falls.
