Comprehensive itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda
At the commencement of this Uganda Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari, our guide will retrieve you from your pre-tour lodging in Kampala at 7:30 am. Departing from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, one proceeds westward to Kasese, passing through the town of Fort Portal.
We pause for lunch in Kasese, appreciating the picturesque slopes of Mount Rwenzori. Post-lunch, we go on our expedition across the picturesque terrains of Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
In the evening, we commence a two-hour boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel, observing hippos, buffalo, and various other animals up close. The boat excursion provides exceptional avian observation opportunities, along with the possibility of encountering elephants, warthogs, and Kob antelopes. The banks of the channel host a diverse array of avian species, including Pink-backed Pelicans, Pied and Malachite Kingfishers, and Saddle-billed Storks.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most renowned protected area, encompassing over 1978 km². The park is aesthetically situated on the rift valley floor between Lake Edward and Lake George, bordered by imposing mountains in the background. The wildlife park features picturesque hills and lakes, predominantly including savannahs or grasslands adorned with euphorbia trees. Queen Elizabeth National Park encompasses diverse environments that support 95 species of mammals and 612 species of birds.
This evening, we will partake in dinner and an overnight accommodation near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 2: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Uganda
Following coffee, we embarked on an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, traversing the northeastern region of Kasenyi Plains, also referred to as Mweya, adjacent to Lake George and the Queens Mile. Wildlife observations encompass the Uganda Kob antelope, elephants, lions, buffalo, waterbuck, warthogs, and numerous other antelope and avian species.
Subsequently, our expedition proceeds through the remarkable craters of the western Rift Valley escarpment and the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park. We embark on a game drive, observing wildlife, particularly the tree-climbing lions native to this southern region of the game area. Following this gratifying game drive, we proceed south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the dusk. Bwindi National Park harbors the endangered African Mountain Gorillas, as well as a diverse array of wildlife, insects, and flora. The inhabitants comprise several additional primate species, including blue and red-tailed monkeys.
We partake in dinner at our lodging situated in the wooded slopes of Bugambira, adjacent to Bwindi Forest in the Kisoro District.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park – Uganda
Today, we embarked on a unique expedition to trek mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The day commences with an early breakfast, followed by a meeting with our guide from the Uganda Wildlife Authority for a briefing on the gorilla trekking expedition.
We then venture into the deep foliage of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, renowned for endangered gorilla trekking, regarded as the pinnacle of visiting Uganda and, for many, the apex of their journeys in Africa. This gorilla walk may last up to six hours, necessitating a reasonable level of fitness and durable walking shoes. The exhilaration of observing these docile primates in their natural habitat justifies the occasionally arduous journey through dense vegetation.
The expedition into the bush is undertaken to locate a familial group of gorillas. Upon locating the African Mountain Gorillas, we observe them as they forage and engage with one another. We see the gorillas talking and am awed by the immense stature of the dominating adult males, known as Silverbacks. Encountering these colossal primates is one of Africa’s most profound wildlife experiences. Every gorilla experience is distinct, presenting its own benefits. We typically observe adult gorillas closely as they feed, groom, and relax, while also observing the young gorillas at play.
In the afternoon, we traverse a nearby neighborhood on foot to obtain insight into the lifestyles of the Ugandan populace residing near Bwindi Park. Experience rural life in this region of Africa, engage with the locals, and contribute to the Buhoma community simultaneously. Following our stroll in Buhoma village, we share a beverage while reminiscing about our indelible experiences with the African Mountain Gorillas.

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Kampala and Entebbe – Uganda
On the fourth day, we partake in an early breakfast before returning to Kampala, stopping at Igongo Cultural Village along the way. This text explores the Bahima and Ankole cultures of Uganda, providing insight into the history of these intriguing communities.
During our journey, we traverse the equator, pausing to capture images and partake in lunch. We return to Kampala and Entebbe, concluding this Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife Safari. Complimentary airport drop-off can be arranged if you are departing on the final day of our Uganda safari.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, situated in southern Uganda, encompasses a section of the varied Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World heritage site.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renowned for its primate populations, including around fifty percent of the global mountain gorilla population. There are slightly more than 1,000 endangered mountain gorillas remaining in the wild. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest habitat has remarkable biodiversity, featuring a diverse array of plant and fauna species. This verdant forested region harbors some of the most abundant populations of trees, small mammals, birds, butterflies, reptiles, and moths.
Bwindi is an avian haven, housing 348 bird species. This region is among Uganda’s premier bird-watching locales, harboring nearly all Albertine Rift endemic species present in the country, in addition to several Red Data Book species.
The Bwindi Forest in Uganda is an old rainforest, believed to have endured the previous ice age. Bwindi, a newly designated World Heritage Site, is among the most biologically varied regions globally, harboring unique and valuable floral species. Bwindi harbors a significant population of chimpanzees, and research indicates that it is the sole forest in Africa where these two ape species coexist.
