5 Days Uganda Camping Safari Tour

Tour Overview

This 5 Days safari starts and ends in Kampala, the trip starts in Kamapala driving south west with a stop over at the equator crossing at Kayabwe for Photoshoots and Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch before proceeding to Queen Elizabeth national park. Uganda’s most popular and diversified game reserve which inhabits 95 mammal species and 610 species of birds. Then the trip continues to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where you will have an opportunity to see the gorillas in their natural habitat. Gorilla trekking is a life changing experience when you meet these fascinating creatures up close and personal as they go about their daily activities.
While in Queen Elizabeth, you will undertake a thrilling game drive in search for the parks famous tree climbing lions of Ishasha sector, as well as other animals like the lions, Leopards, Hyenas, Elephants, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Ginat forest hogs, Warthogs among others. You will also take boat cruise at the Kazinga channel where you will view the highest concentration of Hippos and the Nile crocodiles.
Transfer to Bwindi where you will participate is Gorilla trekking experience then you will transfer for relaxation safari in Lake Bunyonyi Known as the place with little birds which is one of beautiful lakes dotted with 29 Islands each having its historical meaning as well as framed by lush green terraced hills.

6 Days Uganda Primates Safari: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: pick up from Kampala/Entebbe and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park-afternoon game drive.

Rise up early and have morning breakfast and your safari guide will be waiting to pick you up by 6:30am, he will brief you shortly about the safari as you start your journey driving southwest of Kampala city to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The distance covers about 417km and takes about 7hours drive to the park. Enroute, you will make stopover at the equator in Kayabwe a place which separates the Northern pole from the southern pole. It’s popular destination for photoshoot and you may also take part in some experiments here. Embark on the journey arriving in Mbarara town where you will have your lunch. Continue with drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving the park in the afternoon, you will go on game drive to see some of the animals in the park. After, drive straight to the lodge where you will check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive, afternoon Kazinga channel boat cruise

Have early breakfast by 5:30 and by 6:00am, you will embark on 3–4-hour game drive along the Kasenyi plains, this site aside from the sprawling wildlife, its also one of the prettiest sites in the park most especially during the golden hours of the morning as the sun rises. While here, you will look for the lions, Buffalos, elephants, leopards, hyenas, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, giant forest hos, Uganda Kobs, Hippos among other small animals.
Beside the mammals, the park also harbors a great population of bird species. For the birders, you will spot birds like the Grey crowned crane, Red-throated spurfowl, Yellow-throated longclaw, White-backed vultures, White-headed vultures, African Skimmer Eagle among others. After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch as you get ready for boat cruise.
After lunch, you will transfer to Mweya jetty for 2:00pm boat cruise on Kazinga channel, the channel flows between lake George and Edward which is also one the best sites in the park having the world highest concentration of hippos as well as a large number of mammals like the elephants, Nile crocodiles and several water bird species among others. After, you will embark on evening game drive along the channel track as you proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Via Ishasha sector where you will have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions.

Have morning breakfast and thereafter, check out of the lodge and transfer to Bwindi National Park Via the Ishasha sector famous for the tree climbing lions on a lucky day, you will be able to see them hanging on to of trees. This sector also boosts with the highest population of mammals and one of the best sectors in the park to spot predators. Do you will do brief game drive and thereafter, exit the park and drive to Bwindi National Park. The drive time takes about 6-7 hours to reach Buhoma sector of Bwindi. You will have lunch enroute as you continue to the park arriving in the evening, you proceed and check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Drive time: Approximately 7 – 8 hours (depending on tracking location)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and afternoon transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have morning breakfast and with your packed lunch, head out to the park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for briefing about the dos and the don’ts for Gorilla trekking. You will be divided in groups of 8 members and assigned a gorilla group accompanied by ranger guides to begin the search in the forest. The trek may last for about 2-6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be allowed one hour with them as you observe them play, feed, groom young ones, build nests among other activities. After, you will return to the park headquarters where you will be awarded with the certificate of participation in Gorilla trekking. After you will return to the lodge for relaxation and after, check out of the lodge and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. On arrival, you will check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Destination: Lake Bunyonyi 

Day 5: Morning canoe boat and Departure

Have morning breakfast, and thereafter, go for morning canoe boat on lake Bunyonyi where you will explore some of the attractions at the lake. While on the boat, you will explore some of the Islands like the punishment Islands and the guide will provide insightful information. The Island was a place where the girls that happened to conceive out of wedlock or before the traditional marriage where abandoned and left to die. Other islands include; Upside down Island Akampene Island among others. After, you will return to the lodge and check out and start your return journey back to Kampala. You will have lunch enroute as you continue to Kampala arriving late afternoon and the driver guide will drop you off at the airport in time for your departure flight back home or at your preferred drop of location.
