Chimpanzee habituation experience is all about learning more and connecting the chimpanzees to human beings. It is a scientific process of making chimps spend more time with humans and also get used to their presence. This guided experience exposes the visitors to the different chimpanzee ways like the feeding habits, protection ways and among others.

The habituation experience is usually done when the chimpanzees leave their nest that is in the early mornings and the afternoon times. Before taking part in the experience, one has to book a chimpanzee habituation permit at a cost of $250 for non-foreign residents, $250 for foreign residents and 200,000 for East Africans as early as possible that is a month to the date of the experience.

In East Africa, the chimpanzee habituation experience takes place in only Uganda and Tanzania. Whereas in Uganda, it only takes place in queen Elizabeth national park in Kyambura gorge and Kibale National park in Kanyanchu primate walk.

Chimpanzee habituation experience is one of the most selling activities in Kibale National park. Among the population of about 4950 chimpanzees, kibale national park consists 1500 chimpanzees with about 80 that are habituated.

Kibale national park in Kabarole district, is also one of the parks where one can do both standard chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation experience. With chimp trekking, tourists are allowed to spend about an hour with the chimps after locating them and during chimpanzee habituation experience, tourists spend a day while with the chimps. Both the chimpanzee trekking and habituation experiences take place all around the year though best during the rainy seasons. During the rainy seasons, the forests are green and full of the chimpanzee eats thus reduction on their mobility thus making it easy for the visitors to locate them easily without moving to distant places whereas during the dry seasons, chimpanzees like moving deeper into the rainforests in search of food.

Besides chimpanzee habituation experience, kibale national park has got a number of other activities and attractions like bird species, primate species like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, velvet monkeys, olive baboons, blue monkeys and others, beautiful butterfly species and so many other attractions.

Chimpanzee tracking experience in queen Elizabeth national park

The chimpanzee tracking experience in Queen Elizabeth National park involves looking for chimpanzees from their natural habitat which is Kyambura gorge. After locating the chimpanzees, the visitors are allowed to spend about 1 hour with the chimps and shall know their behaviors, there diet and also other concerning matters. Since the chimpanzees in Kyambura are already habituated, this is highly an added advantage they can associate with the humans.

Besides the chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth National park encompasses other attractions like the tree climbing lions at isasha sector, bird species, mammals, kazinga channel and others.
