Tour Overview

This nine day safari offers the thunderous uganda wildlife encounters. The safari starts with a visit of wildlife to Kibale Forest national park home to the chimpanzees and 13 other primates’ species. At Kibale you will do a chimp trek and Bigodi nature walk. The second half of the journey takes you to more wildlife and the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park home to endangered mountain gorillas. At Bwindi you will do a gorilla trek, and later visit Lake Bunyonyi.

9 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival and Transfer to Kampala

Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, our company guide will welcome you and transfer you to Kampala for refreshment and overnight stay at Cassia Lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls NP

After breakfast transfer northwards to Murchison Falls national park en route tracking rhinos in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. After lunch in Masindi Town drive up to the top of Murchison falls – a magnificent spot where the Nile water compresses into a narrow gorge of over 1 km wide down through a 7 meter canyon forming a thunderous roar and a beautiful rainbow in a plume of spray – the wonders of the Nile River! Overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge

Day 3 :Game drive and the Nile boat cruise

After an early breakfast, tour the Northern part with a high concentration of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, hippos, giraffes, Uganda kobs and lions, if you are lucky the leopards, plus a variety of bird species. After lunch, go for a two-hour cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls from where appalling water escapes through the narrow gorge forming a great thunderous uproar. Along the falls water birds and mammals are in great numbers. Return to the lodge for your dinner and an overnight on full board basis.

Day 4 : Transfer to Kibale Forest national park

 

After breakfast, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park heading Southwest via the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley while enjoying the sights of traditional homesteads and farms in this verdant country side. You take packed lunch or simply have an early lunch Hoima. The Murchison – Kibale drive is approximately 7 to 9 hours depending on the weather conditions. Stay an overnight stay.

Destination: Kibale Forest National Park 

Day 5 :Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing about the chimpanzees and the forest as well, after the briefing you will be allocated in groups with a park guide and then enter into the forest to look for the primates and when you meet them take photos and videos. The experience takes 4-5 hours in the forest and then return to lodge for lunch then transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge

Day 6 :Game drive and Kazinga channel boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast, undertake a morning game drive to the Kasenyi area expecting to view early morning predators such as leopards, and lions, different antelope species, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, warthogs, waterbucks, etc. For birders, QE national park is a birders’ paradise with over 606 species including a variety of migratory and Albertine Rift Endemics. In the afternoon, at 14:00 hrs you will walk down to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise along the kazinga channel between lakes Edward and George. This is the best place to see a cross section of all the wildlife in this park. Dinner and overnight stay

Destination: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 7 :Ishasha Sector tree-climbing lions and Transfer to Bwindi NP

After an early breakfast transfer to Bwindi impenetrable Forest NP through the Ishasha – the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP for viewing tree-climbing lions which are only here in the whole country. Savannah Hotel is ideal for lunch after a game drive in Ishasha. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and proceed to check-in to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Destination: Bwindi Forest National Park

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi and Batwa community walk

Wake up early, have breakfast and at 7:00am transfer to the national park headquarters for briefing. At around 8:00am, you will transfer to the trekking starting point and follow various trails in the forest in search of the gorillas. This may take you between 2-6 hours but the experience is surely memorable. On reaching the gorillas, you will spend an hour observing their behaviors and taking photographs after which you will descend back to the lodge forest. In the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies, the traditional forest dwellers who will demonstrate to you about their forest life. Later transfer from Bwindi to lake Bunyonyi one of the most beautiful and deepest lakes in Uganda dotted with several islands, check-in.

Day 9: Canoe Ride on Lake Bunyonyi, departure.

After an early morning breakfast, you will have a boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi in which you will visit several islands including the punishment islands. Return to the lodge and check-out then embark on your journey back to Entebbe. You will enjoy your lunch enroute at Mbarara town and then stop at the equator. Proceed to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at Gorilla African Guest house for dinner and overnight stay.
