Covering an area of about 370 square kilometers, Lak Mburo national park is Uganda’s smallest savannah park situated on the highway to western Uganda the park is agate way to all the national parks found in western Uganda. The park is covered by stunning savannah grass and woodland as well as acacia. It’s also the best park in Uganda where you can find the Common eland (the second largest antelope in the world) ,350 bird species and 68 mammal species like the Cape buffalos, Zebras, Rothchild’s giraffes, Impalas, Impalas (which can only be spotted here), Defassa waterbucks, Common Warthogs, Oribi, Reedbuck, spotted hyenas, Jackal and leopards.
Lake Mburo National Park has got 5 lakes within the park with lake Mburo being the largest lake and covers most of the park’s boundaries. The lakes are a home to the biggest population of hippos, crocodiles and several water bird species. Lake Mburo has got 6 fish species including Tilapia, you will have an opportunity to do fishing in one designated fishing spots in the park.

Day 1: Arrival at Lake Mburo National Park

As the golden rays of the African sun cast their warmth upon the vibrant landscape, we embark on an exhilarating journey to Lake Mburo National Park after morning breakfast at the lodge. The park is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Uganda’s wilderness. We will have a brief stopover at the equator Upon arrival, we are greeted by the serene ambiance of the park, its lush savannah plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Our accommodation, the charming Mburo Safari Lodge, welcomes us with open arms, offering a haven of comfort amidst nature’s embrace.
After settling into our cozy lodgings, we set out to explore the wonders of Lake Mburo. Our first stop is a leisurely game drive through the park’s diverse habitats, where we encounter an array of wildlife, from graceful impalas to majestic zebras grazing lazily in the grasslands. The park’s rich biodiversity captivates our senses, each sighting a testament to Uganda’s natural splendor.

As the sun begins its descent, we embark on a sunset boat cruise along Lake Mburo’s tranquil waters. The gentle sway of the boat lulls us into a state of tranquility as we glide past hippos basking in the sun and crocodiles lurking along the shoreline. The sky is painted in hues of orange and pink, casting a magical glow over the landscape as we toast to the beauty of the African wilderness. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Fishing Excursion and Wildlife Encounters

Rising with the dawn chorus of birdsong, we prepare for a day of adventure on the shores of Lake Mburo. After a hearty breakfast, we meet our expert fishing guide who will lead us to the prime fishing spots teeming with Nile perch, tilapia, and catfish. Armed with our fishing rods and a sense of anticipation, we cast our lines into the crystal-clear waters, eager to reel in the catch of the day.
As we wait patiently for the fish to bite, we are treated to glimpses of Lake Mburo’s abundant wildlife. Herds of buffalo graze along the shoreline, while curious waterbucks peer at us from the thickets. The park’s resident birdlife adds a symphony of sounds to the tranquil surroundings, their vibrant plumage a kaleidoscope of colors against the verdant backdrop.
As the day unfolds, we are rewarded with a bountiful catch, our efforts yielding an impressive array of fish to be savored later at our evening barbecue. Day 3: Morning Nature walk and Departure

Our final day at Lake Mburo National Park begins with a bush walk led by knowledgeable guides who unravel the mysteries of the African wilderness. As we meander through the park’s pristine landscapes, we learn about the delicate balance of nature and the intricate ecosystems that sustain life in this wilderness sanctuary. Along the way, we encounter tracks of elusive leopards and several other wildlife species reminding of the untamed beauty that lies just beyond our reach. After you will return to the lodge and check out and start your return journey back to Kampala. You will have lunch afterwards; the driver guide will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
