11 days Uganda Gorilla and Cycling Safari: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be meet by our safari driver guide who will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel in Entebbe or Kampala where you will check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Destination: Kampala

Day 2: Transfer to Fort Portal town

After your breakfast, you meet with your safari guide who will transfer you to Fort Portal town. Fort portal is one of the cleanest towns in Uganda and famous tea growing estate, the town is situated in the foothills of Rwenzori mountains. You will also have your lunch here and thereafter, you take on 50km drive through the country and local villages. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Cycling through the crater lakes to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up and have morning breakfast with your packed lunch, you will go on cycling through the crater lakes where you will spot several stunning attractions and beautiful scenery on the craters. You will explore the crater and also take lunch at one of the craters. After, embark on the drive along the main road where you may stop for refreshments. We will have our bikes on the Vehicle and then drive to Queen Elizabeth national park and on arrival, check in to the where you will spend the rest of the evening.

Day 4: Cycling Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

Have morning breakfast and go on ride through queen Elizabeth National Park, you will ride gravel roads through the Savannah and if lucky enough, you will encounter several mammal species like waterbucks, buffalos, elephants among others. Also Note that your Vehicle will be right behind you therefore, their no need to worry for animal threats. After you will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will go boat ride in Kazinga channel which is one of the top sites in the park for game viewing boosting with the biggest concentration of hippos among other animals and bird species. Later evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Buhoma town

After morning breakfast, you will meet with your driver guide, check out and transfer to Buhoma town one of the popular and first ever created sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park. The drive will take about 3-4 hours arriving in the park in time for lunch, later in the afternoon, you will visit the local communities living in surrounding areas of the park and some local projects. After you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Destination: Buhoma Town

Day 6: Gorilla trekking In Buhoma Region

Rise up early and have breakfast and after, with your parked lunch at the lodge, you will meet the driver will drive you to the park headquarters where you will attend briefing about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking, after you will also be put in group of 8 members and assigned a gorilla family you will be trekking, the rangers will lead you to the starts of trek. Trekking gorillas may last for about 2-6 hours depending in the location or how far the gorillas have moved. Once you have found them, you will be allowed one hour with them to observe them, take photos or videos for your memories. After, you will return to the start point of the trek where you will be awarded with the certificate of participation in Gorilla trekking. The driver will take you back to the lodge where you will spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 7: Cycling through the Monkey trail

The monkey trail ride covers about 56km, you will rise up early and have morning breakfast thereafter, you will head to the starting ride point to begin with the monkey trail hike. This is challenging ride to the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest ranging from small tracks through rural areas to the wide dirt roads heading straight through the forest. There is a number of scenic views along the trails, you will also encounter the monkeys. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Riding from Rihuja to Lake Bunyonyi

Have breakfast and after, you ride along Bwindi impenetrable forest and descending towards civilization. Be prepared because their some hills to tackle before reaching lake Bunyonyi. You will be able to see terraced fields enroute to lake Bunyonyi also referred to us the Switzerland of Africa. On arrival, proceed and check in to the lodge for rest of the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Destination: Lake Bunyonyi

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet with your driver guide who will transfer you to lake Mburo National Park. You will arrive in the park in time for lunch, in the afternoon, you will go on game drive in the park in search for the animals. Lake Mburo is the smallest national park but rich in wildlife species and it’s the only park with Impalas. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Cycling safari in Lake Mburo

Wake up and have morning breakfast and thereafter, you will be for cycling in the park, mornings are the best time for game viewing when the animals are most active and grazing on the savannah. You will spot animals like the Zebras, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, buffalos, impalas and waterbucks among others the cycling experience allows you explore the park and see the animals at much closer range. Return to the lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will for 2-hour boat cruise in lake Mburo where you will see lots of water animals and several aquatic bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Destination: Lake Mburo National Park 

Day 11: Departure

Have a relaxed morning breakfast and after, check out of the lodge and start your return journey back to Kampala, the drive time takes you about 4 hours. enroute you will have stop over at the equator some experiments and photoshoot. Continue with the journey back to Kampala. You will have lunch and depending on your flight time, the driver guide will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight back home at your preferred location.
